Do I need a Stripe account? What is Stripe?

Yes. Memberful requires a Stripe account. Stripe is a certified Level 1 PCI credit card payment processor. They process your payments and transfer the funds to your bank account. Learn more about payment processing.

How do the transaction fees work?

Memberful charges a flat transaction fee of 10% on the Starter plan and 4.9% on the Pro and Premium plans. Stripe charges you an additional credit card processing fee that varies by country. See Stripe pricing for more details.

Is Memberful PCI Compliant and secure?

Yes and yes. We use 256-bit SSL security across the service. We don't store customer credit cards. We also keep high-availability backups of all your important data. Read more about Memberful security.

What's a plan?

Members purchase a subscription to a plan. You can also include protected file downloads (software, eBook, research) with a plan or sell downloads standalone.

What are group subscriptions?

Group subscriptions are memberships that contain multiple seats purchased and managed by a single account. They are a great solution for companies or groups looking to provide access to members of their organization.

Can I try it for free?

Yes! Try Memberful for free for as long as you need in test mode. You may also upgrade to the Pro plan for free in test mode. We won't start charging you until you connect to Stripe and turn on live payments.

Can I build a website with Memberful?

Absolutely! With Memberful, you have the flexibility to build a fully functional, professional website. You can choose to host your website directly on Memberful's platform or integrate Memberful's checkout system seamlessly into your existing website with a bit more configuration.

What are external payments?

For group subscriptions, you have the option to enable external payments. This allows specific subscriptions to be paid manually through external means like wire transfer or cheque.

These payments are exempt from our regular transaction fee, but a nominal charge of $0.20 per externally paid seat is applicable each month. Simplify your payment process and provide more flexibility to your members with external payments for group subscriptions.

Can I change plans or cancel at any time?

Yes. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time. The paid plans are billed month to month. We don't have any long term contracts.

What are website and service integrations?

Website integrations allow you to integrate Memberful directly with your website, through Wordpress or another provider. Service integrations include direct connections and syncing with popular services like Mailchimp, Campaign Monitor, Discourse, and ConvertKit.

You may also build a website entirely with Memberful which allows you to move faster and avoid the complicated task of website development and configuration.
